Job summary

Airbus Canada Limited Partnership is seeking a Metallurgy and Forge Specialist to join the Materials & Processes Engineering team in Mirabel, QC. You will provide high-end technical expertise on metallic materials, forged and machined parts, and support design, qualification, and supply chain activities.

The role requires collaboration with engineering, production, and suppliers, with hybrid work policy and opportunities for professional development across national and international programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in materials engineering, metallurgy or mechanical engineering.
  • Solid aerospace industry experience with metallic materials.
  • Hands-on material testing and qualification of forgings, extrusions, castings, machining.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary technical expertise to resolve design, certification and compliance issues with suppliers, operations and quality.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, manufacturing routes, and forged/casted part qualifications.
  • Collaborate within a multifunctional team on cost-reduction opportunities and structural modifications.
  • Ensure designs meet M&P requirements and environmental regulations.
  • Document dispositions on M&P work files and support MRB activities.

Le programme d'avions commerciaux A220 recherche un(e) Spécialiste Métallurgie et Forge pour rejoindre notre équipe Ingénierie Matériaux et Procédés (M&P) basée à Mirabel (Québec, Canada), où vous travaillerez conjointement avec les équipes d'ingénierie, de production et nos fournisseurs.

Vous ferez partie de l’équipe M&P chargée de soutenir le programme d'avions A220 en fournissant une expertise technique de pointe sur les matériaux métalliques, les pièces forgées, moulées et usinées.

L'organisation de l'équipe est établie de manière à promouvoir la collaboration transversale de manière autonome, en se soutenant mutuellement et en apprenant collectivement.

Votre rôle en tant que Spécialiste Métallurgie et Forge sera de résoudre les problèmes de conception, d'approuver les qualifications de pièces et de soutenir la chaîne d'approvisionnement et les opérations.

Vos défis:
  • Fournir une expertise technique pour la résolution des problèmes de conception, de certification et de conformité en interagissant avec les fournisseurs, les opérations et la qualité.
  • Effectuer les analyses techniques et approuver les dessins, les rapports de fabrication, la qualification des pièces forgées et moulées, et les rapports d'essai.
  • Travailler au sein d'une équipe multifonctionnelle sur les opportunités de réduction des coûts, les modifications structurelles et le respect des exigences M&P.
  • Collaborer étroitement avec l’ingénierie de liaison pour fournir des dispositions techniques concernant les problèmes de fabrication et d'assemblage.
  • S'assurer que les activités de conception respectent les réglementations environnementales ayant une incidence sur le programme A220.
  • Échanger et collaborer avec l'équipe de spécialistes M&P et les autres sites d'assemblage pour assurer le partage des connaissances techniques.
  • Documenter les dispositions sur les dossiers de travail M&P et communiquer l'état des problèmes émergents à la direction.
  • Soutenir les activités du comité d'examen de matériel (MRB) (incluant un support en rotation de soir et de fin de semaine).
Votre profil:
  • Diplôme universitaire en génie des matériaux, en métallurgie ou en génie mécanique.
  • Solid experience in the Aerospace industry directly related to metallic use (Titanium, aluminium, steel) in Aircraft Structures.
  • Hands-on experience in material testing, allowables establishment, and qualification of forgings, extrusions, castings, and machining.
  • Extended knowledge of aerospace surface finishing (plating, anodizing), organic finishing, and mechanisms of wear and corrosion.
  • Understanding of aerospace fasteners selection, qualification, and installation requirements.
  • Proficiency in standard tools mandatory for the job (CATIA, Enovia, MS Office) and familiarity with industry standards (SAE, ASTM, OEM).
  • Strong problem-solving, project management skills, and ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Advanced level of English and Intermediate level of French (written and spoken).
  • If required - travel
  • This role may involve some travels for business (worldwide).
  • Travel Required: <5% Domestic and International.
  • Possible on-call duties during week-ends and/or holiday seasons.

Your challenges:
  • Provide primary technical expertise in resolving Design, Certification, and Compliance issues interacting with Suppliers, Operations, and Quality.
  • Perform technical reviews and approve Engineering Drawings, Manufacturing Techniques Sheets, Forgings/Castings Qualification, and Test Reports.
  • Work in a Multi-Functional Team on cost reduction opportunities, structural modifications and ensure designs meet M&P requirements.
  • Work in close collaboration with Liaison Engineers to provide timely M&P technical dispositions for manufacturing and assembly issues.
  • Ensure redesign activities meet environmental regulations impacting the A220 aircraft.
  • Engage with the M&P specialists team and exchange information with other assembly sites to share technical knowledge.
  • Document dispositions on M&P work files and provide clear visibility to management regarding emerging technical issues.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities on a rotational basis during evening shifts and weekends.
