Job summary

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) invites applications for a Specialist, Software Engineering (Azure Middleware) in a temporary 15-month role. This hybrid position designs Azure-based middleware integrations to enable secure, scalable data exchange across CMHC systems.

You will build backend integrations with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and .NET, participate in CI/CD with Azure DevOps, and monitor deployments to ensure reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/CE or related field.
• 5+ years designing and deploying Azure cloud solutions with C# .NET.
• Hands-on experience with serverless and integration patterns in Azure.
• Experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD and Git workflows.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, scalability, and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Azure-based middleware integrations for secure data exchange.
• Build backend integrations using Azure Function Apps, Logic Apps, and .NET (C#).
• Implement automated workflows and API integrations with Azure serverless offerings.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Manage deployments to Azure environments including App Services, Function Apps, Key Vault, API Management.
• Ensure secure, reliable deployments with automated testing and validation.
• Monitor and troubleshoot applications using Application Insights and Azure Monitor.
• Participate in testing, defect triage, and deployment activities.

About the role

Join the Technology and Business Transformation Team, in the Specialist, Software Engineering (Azure Middleware) position, where the next generations of software applications are being developed to enable CMHC to achieve its mission. You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, scalable cloud solutions while supporting continuous improvement across CMHC's systems.

This is a temporary position of a duration of 15 months.

What you’ll do:

• Design and maintain Azure-based middleware integrations that enable secure and reliable data exchange across enterprise systems.
• Build backend integrations using Azure Function Apps, Logic Apps, and .NET (C#) following event-driven and serverless architecture patterns.
• Implement automated workflows, API integrations, and data processing pipelines using Azure serverless offerings.

Deployment, DevOps & CI/CD:

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Repos, Artifacts, YAML).
• Manage deployments to Azure environments, including configuration of App services, Function Apps, Key Vault, API Management, and monitoring tools.
• Ensure secure, reliable, and efficient deployments through automated testing, validation gates, and build/deployment automation.

Support & Operations:

• Monitor and troubleshoot applications running in Azure using Application Insights, Log Analytics, and Azure Monitor.
• Participate in testing, defect triage, and deployment activities across development and productive environments.

What you should have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, testing, deploying Azure cloud solutions, C# .NET including integrations and serverless components.
• Strong hands-on experience developing serverless integrations and workflows using: Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure App Services, Azure Storage, Service Bus, Key Vault, or other Azure PaaS components.
• Strong proficiency in .NET and C# for building backend and integration components.
• Solid understanding of cloud architecture principles, including scalability, load balancing, and distributed systems.
• An ability to establish, document, and apply development best practices, including coding standards and secure design.
• Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and deployment automation.
• Experience in supporting production applications, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response.

It would be great if you also had:

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.
