Job summary

Walmart Canada is seeking a quality control specialist to ensure fresh produce and meat meet quality, regulatory, and company standards at perishable distribution centers. Position Summary...This role ensures that fresh produce and meat entering perishable distribution centers (PDCs) meet quality, regulatory requirements, and company standards.What you'll do...This role is responsible for ensuring that specifications for the quality and consistency of outbound fresh produce from vendor sites are met. Responsibilities include driving and delivering execution of business and customer expectations by maintaining and executing quality control (QC) programs at vendor sites to ensure compliance with company requirements. The role may also liaise with merchants and vendors to improve quality and consistency of fresh products.In conjunction with regional managers, this role supports the development and maintenance of a customer-focused culture within vendor sites, aiming to improve the quality and consistency of upstream fresh outbound deliveries and direct store delivery (DSD) programs. The role involves conducting accurate and efficient inspections of outbound fresh produce from vendor sites bound for multiple PDCs, ensuring deliveries meet internal specifications for quality and industry standards for labeling. The role may evaluate the quality and consistency of fresh products and reject shipments that do not meet specifications or regulatory expectations.Additionally, this role monitors product integrity at vendor sites, including appropriate temperature zones, optimal dwell times, correct rotation, staple stock re-inspections, and the disposition of sub-standard quality, damages, and labeling non-compliance. Timely reporting and communication of any deficiencies in inbound/outbound quality and compliance to relevant parties are crucial. The role may also maintain and update produce specifications as needed, participate in special projects and shelf-life studies before product launches, and contribute to the development of food quality goals and targets in the strategic plan.This role manages customer and store quality complaints regarding fresh produce supplied by vendors and compiles monthly tracking reports on quality trends. Organizing routine store visits to review quality at the store level and training fresh managers on improving the quality and consistency of fresh DSD deliveries, inspections/rejections, food handling and storage, product rotations, and ways to minimize store shrink are also key aspects. The role also leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved, while promoting compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.The pay range for this position is $60,000.00 - $75,000.00.
