Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is seeking a Specialist, Quality Assurance within the Business Optimization Planning team in Ottawa. The role focuses on external reporting, data quality, and data-driven insights to support senior management and housing program priorities.

The position is temporary until October 2027 and requires strong experience with BI tools, data validation, and analytical storytelling to drive decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, commerce, CS, or BI).
  • Minimum of five years of data analytics/BI experience.
  • Experience with analytical and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, Databricks, Python, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of data management and delivery platforms is a plus (Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee data quality monitoring for external reporting and resolve issues to ensure integrity and consistency.
  • Apply data quality principles across complex reporting environments and establish best practices.
  • Develop and maintain data quality frameworks with validation and monitoring processes.
  • Provide analytical support and develop performance measures for management and stakeholders.
  • Design and improve dashboards and reports translating data into actionable insights.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets and identify patterns and risks to inform recommendations.
  • Prepare written analyses for management and respond to inquiries with ad hoc data extracts.

About the role

Join the Business Optimization Planning team, in the Specialist, Quality Assurance position, and help drive strategic decision-making through reporting excellence, data quality, and data-driven insights. In this role, you will support the development, validation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of external reporting products, executive briefing materials, and analytical outputs. You will transform complex data into meaningful insights and recommendations that support senior management, external reporting requirements, accountability, and strategic priorities. Through your expertise in data analytics, reporting, and data quality management, you will help ensure that decisions are supported by accurate, reliable, and actionable information while contributing to the achievement of Housing Programs objectives.

This is a temporary position until October 2027.

What you’ll do:
  • Oversees the monitoring of data quality related to external reporting; leads the resolution of issues to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of reported information. Proactively identifies risks that could compromise reporting quality and leads initiatives to address them.
  • Demonstrates strong expertise in applying data quality principles in complex reporting environments and establishes best practices for data validation, integrity, consistency, and accuracy across reporting products and analytical outputs.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive data quality and control frameworks, ensuring reporting processes are supported by effective validation, monitoring, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Provides high-level analytical support in the creation of reports within the directorate and for business lines, including the development of performance and outcome measures, while ensuring data validation and quality control.
  • Designs, develops, and continuously improves reports, dashboards, and performance reporting products by translating complex data into clear, actionable, and decision-oriented insights for stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates strong data exploration and investigative skills by analyzing large, complex, incomplete, or previously unknown datasets; identifies patterns, anomalies, and data quality concerns and translates findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Prepares insightful and value-added written analyses for management, takes initiative to explain performance issues and trends, and provides ad hoc data extracts and analyses to support managerial, executive, regulatory, and ministerial inquiries.
  • Assists with communication strategies for new or revised processes, reporting methodologies, and practices, and performs analysis with consideration for organizational risks, including reputational, financial, and operational risks.
What you should have:
  • An undergraduate degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, commerce, computer science, or business intelligence.
  • A minimum of five years of prior relevant experience in data analytics and business intelligence. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • A demonstrated experience using analytical and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Databricks, Python, Tableau, and similar technologies to analyze data, develop reporting products, and support decision-making. Experience with data management and delivery platforms such as Azure DevOps is considered an asset.
  • Sound analytical skills with demonstrated quantitative/qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills to capture, synthesize information, develop recommendations and provide advice.
