Interior Health is hiring a permanent full‑time Specialist, Medical Staff Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness who is passionate about making a difference in healthcare.
Location: This position is flexible within the Interior Health Authority region.
Salary range: $88,990 to $127,923. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
The Specialist, Medical Staff Occupational Health Safety and Wellness (Specialist) is accountable to lead the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Medical Staff Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness (MSOHSW) program in collaboration with the Medical Director, Medical Staff Safety and Regional Medical Director of Wellness. The Specialist reports to the Director, Medical Governance and Administration and works closely with other members of the Interior Health (IH) Medical Staff Safety and Wellness (MSSW) working group including the IH Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Corporate Director and Lead and Doctors of BC representatives. Key priorities include operationalizing and sustaining an occupational health and safety framework aimed at ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in the Physician Master Agreement, supporting wellness and psychological safety initiatives and education, and fostering a comprehensive cultural vision of safety and well‑being for medical staff. addition to strong foundations in occupational health and safety and familiarity with HSMS framework, the Specialist has experience engaging medical staff and recognizes the complexities of leading change within this diverse group. This position will need to be aware of the distinctive features of medical staff culture, the relationship with external partners such as the Doctors of BC, SWITCH BC, Provincial Physician Health & Safety Working Group (PPHSWG), other health authorities, Ministry of Health and the MOA on Physical and Psychological Safety within Physician Master Agreement. The Specialist will also have strong knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulatory standards The Specialist focuses on cultivating robust collaborative relationships with the Occupational Health and Safety regulatory bodies, Medical Affairs and operational Leadership, and external partners.
