Specialist, Labour Relations

Responsibilities
- Provide expert HR/LR advice to employees, supervisors, managers and business partners on labour and employee relations matters including conflict resolution, collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, corrective action, and related inquiries.
- Support and monitor execution of the Company's bargaining and labour relations strategies.
- Provide guidance on matters relating to code of conduct, policy and ethics including investigations, reports, and determining appropriate corrective action.
- Seek appropriate legal consultation and alignment from executive as needed.
- Develop and foster a relationship of mutual respect with individuals within Hydro.
- Lead issue analysis reviews, develop action plans, and stay up to date on corporate initiatives, industry trends, labour relations activity, and labour law.
What We're Looking For
- Respectful proactive leader who can work with union leadership to build partnerships and foster collaboration with management teams and union representatives.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and collaboratively; excellent written and oral communication; strong analytical and time-management skills.
- Effective in delivering presentations and reports to various levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrates integrity, initiative, positive attitude, mutual respect, and sound judgment in uncertain situations.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration with specialization in Labour Relations or Human Resources.
- Master’s in Employee Relations or similar industrial relations certification is an asset.
- Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation or other relevant HR/LR designation is an asset.
- Minimum 7 years progressive experience in labour/employee relations, with at least 5 years in a unionized environment.
- Experience coaching and advising peers, managers and supervisors on LR matters; strong negotiation experience; knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Act) and experience in collective agreement administration and dispute resolution.
- Good working knowledge of computers and corporate applications (e.g., Microsoft Office with intermediate/advanced Excel; JD Edwards). A combination of comparable education and experience may be considered.
- Willingness to travel or have schedule flexibility; valid driver’s license.
