Working at the intersection of risk management, brokerage, capital markets, finance, and treasury, you will oversee the full counterparty credit assessment and monitoring lifecycle. You will evaluate financial strength, establish appropriate credit limits, and monitor exposures to ensure alignment with the organization's risk appetite. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will provide actionable insights and recommendations to support informed business decisions. You will also contribute to building scalable risk frameworks, policies, and procedures that promote operational excellence and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership, influence risk management practices, and help shape a growing function in an innovative, technology-driven organization.

  • Conduct comprehensive credit assessments for new and existing counterparties, analyzing financial statements, regulatory filings, creditworthiness, and other relevant risk factors.

  • Prepare detailed written credit recommendations and propose appropriate credit limits based on financial analysis and the organization's risk appetite.

  • Monitor counterparty exposures, concentration limits, and stress-testing results through internal platforms, ensuring all exposures remain within approved thresholds.

  • Identify emerging credit risks, investigate potential vulnerabilities, and proactively recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Collaborate with front-office and risk development teams to strengthen credit risk processes and support evolving business requirements.

  • Exercise sound judgment when working with incomplete information, clearly documenting assumptions, potential risks, and recommendations.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties while promoting strong risk management practices.

Requirements:
  • Between 1 and 3+ years of experience in counterparty credit risk, credit analysis, or a related credit risk management role, preferably within an investment dealer, brokerage, or financial services environment.

  • Working knowledge of broker-dealer regulatory capital requirements, including risk-adjusted capital and net excess capital calculations.

  • Ability to interpret and analyze regulatory financial filings, particularly Form 1 and FOCUS reports.

  • Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate financial statements, identify credit vulnerabilities, and formulate well-supported recommendations.

  • Understanding of counterparty exposure, concentration risk, credit limits, stress testing, and risk monitoring frameworks.

  • Progress toward a professional designation such as CFA, CPA, or FRM is considered an advantage.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying root causes and emerging risks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to translate complex financial and credit risk concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for different audiences.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of projects, working independently, and developing solutions in an evolving business environment.

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams and with external stakeholders.

  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Benefits:
  • Competitive annual base salary ranging from CAD 69,600 to CAD 87,000, depending on skills, experience, and role level.

  • Transparent compensation structure with clearly defined job levels and market‑based salary bands.

  • Comprehensive health benefits and life insurance coverage.

  • Long‑term group savings plan with employer contributions through a business savings program.

  • 20 days of annual vacation.

  • Four additional wellness days per year.

  • Unlimited paid sick and mental health days, subject to role eligibility.

  • Flexible international working arrangements, with the opportunity to work outside Canada for up to 90 days per year, subject to eligibility.
