As an Audit Specialist, you will influence and facilitate change across the organization in a role that offers tremendous networking and development opportunities. You will gain enterprise-wide exposure as you work with various functions and business units to plan and conduct assurance engagements.

Minimum Requirements
  • CPA, CIA, or CISA designation is preferred.
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in internal audit, financial controls, or risk management, ideally within the energy sector. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with Tax and/or Treasury functions.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and storytelling abilities to influence and propose strategies and solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of leading audits and driving process improvements in complex, matrixed organizations.
Accountabilities
  • Plan and execute audits with a focus on financial controls and governance.
  • Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls across key business processes.
  • Provide informal leadership within the internal audit team by sharing knowledge and guiding junior colleagues.
  • Prepare clear, concise audit reports with actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements that align with best practices and strategic objectives.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments impacting financial and IT governance.
Location and Other Key Details
  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
