Job summary

Kayla's Children Centre in Vaughan, ON is seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide whole group, small group, and 1:1 support, with behaviour management in a school setting.

You will collaborate with speech, occupational, physical, music therapists, and behaviour analysts within a multidisciplinary team to support students with special needs and learning differences.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Teachers Certification is preferred.
• Special Education Part 1 Additional Qualification, and experience with Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD considered an asset.
• CPR and crisis prevention certifications (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Create Individual Education Plans for students.
• Ongoing communication with families.
• Plan, organize, and assign activities specific to each student’s abilities.
• Supervise and mentor teacher assistants.
• Use individualized reinforcement techniques.
• Teach in large group, small group, and one-on-one settings.
• Implement Independent Activity Schedules.
• Implement social skills, life skills and self-regulation strategies.
• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Discuss student progress with parents, teachers, and administrator.
• Implement behaviour management protocol.
• Record and track data.
