Responsibilities: Spare Driver
- Delivery of finished product to the customer / pick-up of raw materials at the mill.
- Responsible for securing a safe & legal load.
- Perform related computer functions (scanning, billing, finalizing, etc.).
- Complete daily trip sheet and / or electronic logs as applicable and ensure that all associated records are completed and submitted.
- Maintains logs, drivers trip reports, vehicle condition reports, related records, maintenance, and repairs to vehicles.
- Maintains eligibility for commercial driver’s license and complies with applicable Department of Transportation regulations as well as local traffic laws governing operation of vehicle.
- Responsible for the safe operation of vehicles on public roadways and customer & supplier locations.
- Always conduct themselves with a professional demeanor, to project an appropriate corporate image in all dealings with customers and the public.
- On occasion, may be responsible for picking up customer payments after delivery has been made.
- Safe operation of the vehicle and load is of upmost importance.
- Safe unloading procedures must be followed at all times.
- Drivers must be punctual and dependable.
- Drivers will be representing the company while on deliveries, must be courteous and able to deal with clients.
- Spare drivers must be flexible with hours and able to come in to deliver material if a full-time driver cannot make it that day.
Order Picker
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of all lifting equipment.
- Performs daily inspection on lifting equipment prior to start up.
- Receive / verify material against incoming BOL and apply stock tags.
- Load material against a pick list – scanning product tags.
- Updates inventory material locations.
- Locate, generate, and package ASIS products and apply finished good tags.
- Stage material for processing
- Transfer material within the building as required.
- Ensures the safe preservation of products stored inside / outside the building.
- Ensure all necessary reports have been completed.
- Ensures non-conforming product / damaged equipment is brought forth to the Shipping / Receiving Department or Production Supervisor for disposition.
- Maintains good housekeeping in the work area.
- Take part and initiate continuous improvement efforts.
- Training new employees as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Management or Production Supervisor.
Quality System Requirements (Authority & Responsibility) :
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
Tools & Equipment :
- Samuel transport trucks, binders, chains, nylon slings / straps, load list, packing slips / BOL’s, electronic logbooks, cell phone and maps.
- Remote Cranes and Booms (qualified), Lift truck (qualified) Side Loader (qualified), Measuring and Computer Equipment (scanner / D365), Wood Saws, Nail Gun, Banding Equipment and Tensioners and Magnets.
Education & Qualifications :
- DZ driver’s license required.
- Min 3yrs experience hauling and securing steel products.
- High School diploma required or equivalent work experience.
- Drivers must be punctual and dependable.
- Effective time management skills, able to work as a member of a team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Drivers will be representing the company while on deliveries, must be courteous and able to deal with clients.
- Drive, determination and ability to work both independently with little direction and as part of a team.
Demands for a "Truck Driver" :
- Must have near excellent vision in both eyes and good hearing.
- Must demonstrate near excellent Hand / Leg / Foot / Eye co-ordination.
- Must have good judgment of distance and clearances.
- Weight demands on the body : 1 / 2 pound to 100 pounds. Usually an electric crane or Tow motor is at the disposal of the driver.
- Strain demands on the body : Moderate repetitive Hand, Leg, and Foot movement. Short term fluctuating Light to Heavy demands on back, arms, legs, hands, and groin.
