REPORTS TO: Supervisor Customer Service
DEPARTMENT: Passenger Services

REFERENCE: 500-168-26
RATE OF PAY: $28.9571- $32.1745/ hour (Increases set out as per the collective agreement. Full rate effective after 1 year of service)

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

The Spare Customer Service Sales Agent (CSSA) is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in person and over the phone, providing accurate and timely information regarding Ontario Northland’s bus and train services. This role functions on a flexible, as-needed basis, covering scheduled shifts during vacations, sick leave, and peak periods, as well as occasional on-call assignments. Hours are variable and not guaranteed, requiring adaptability and readiness to support operational needs. The role will be required to fill vacancies at Moosonee Station only.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sells ONTC bus/train and interline tickets
  • Provides fare and schedule information for all services to the general public
  • Processes and handles incoming and outgoing Bus Parcel Express and baggage (weighing up to 75 pounds)
  • Performs daily audit functions in order to reconcile paperwork and daily sales
  • Responds to incoming customer enquiries via email, phone or other correspondenceResponds to customer concerns and complaints
  • 8-hour shifts with the availability to work within a 24 hour/7-day operation
REQUIREMENTS
  • Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Excellent customer service skills and have experience in providing customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills and experience using Windows based applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Project a positive and helpful image at all times
  • Previous experience dealing with cash and reconciliation for multiple transactions
  • Must have the flexibility necessary to adapt to changing schedules
  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are fluent in both official languages (English and French)
