Job summary

Purolator in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to support procurement activities for a leading Canada-wide logistics provider. You will review spend patterns, issue RFxs, manage supplier relationships, and maintain contracts databases while collaborating with internal stakeholders.

The role requires university/college level education in commerce or administration with procurement focus, strong procurement knowledge, and excellent Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• University or College level education in Commerce or Administration, preferably specializing in Procurement, or equivalent work experience
• Strong knowledge in transportation/logistics/MHE Equipment is required
• Experience with procurement processes, RFx and contract management is expected
• Excellent written proposals and analytical skills, with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Review spending patterns and identify procurement opportunities

• Prepare and issue RFx’s to potential suppliers

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Procurement Manager the Sourcing Specialist will:

• Reviews spending patterns, identifies procurement opportunities from a wide variety of information sources
• Manages expiration of agreements, ensure continuous source of supplies and services
• Prepares and issues RFx’s to potential suppliers
• Works with internal clients to develop accurate statements of requirements.
• Responsible for analysis of proposals, vendor negotiations
• Develops long form agreements where required
• Manage relationships with suppliers
• Responsible for all P.O.’s, requisitions, maintenance of contracts database and generating statistical information
• Works with suppliers to develop content for Purolator’s electronic catalogue
• Responsible for the creation and maintenance of purchasing files
• Works with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies
• Other responsibilities as required.

Education

• University or College level education in Commerce or Administration, preferably specializing in Procurement, or equivalent work experience

Experience

• Business/financial acumen – understanding of business principles and data and their use in formulating business decisions, ability to formulate decisions based on cost-benefit analyses of situations, applies customer, market, or industry awareness to solving problems
• Strong knowledge in transportation/logistics/MHE Equipment is required
• Problem Analysis- ability to analyze information, identify critical elements, summarize for review, and identify solutions to problems through the development and evaluation of alternatives
• Good oral communication skills, ability to present recommendations in a manner that gains acceptance, ask in-depth questions,
• Good written skills, writes effective proposals, business cases, and communications, prepares clear written analyses of issues or problems.
• Detail oriented

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong skills in MS Excel
• Enrollment in PMAC courses an asset SAP (MM module) experience an asset.
• Bilingualism an asset

Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
