Job summary

Boart Longyear in Alberta is seeking Sonic Drillers to support on-site drilling across northern sites. The role offers year-round work with daily overtime, weekly overtime, and double time. Paid travel and training, bonuses, and an out-of-town living allowance accompany excellent benefits.

You'll perform semi-skilled drilling tasks, learn advanced geotechnical testing techniques, and adapt to both shop and field work while maintaining safety and efficiency in outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years of directly related drilling experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides semi-skilled labour intensive assistance across a wide spectrum of drilling operations in an efficient and safe manner.
• Responsible for general condition and obtaining optimum life out of all site equipment and tools and correct alignment of the drill.
• May be responsible for training of new drillers in a safe environment.
• Performs surveys according to client.

Hourly Wage

Hourly Wage: $39.00-$44.50/hr

Job Responsibilities

Provides semi-skilled labour intensive assistance across a wide spectrum of drilling operations in an efficient and safe manner. Responsible for general condition and obtaining optimum life out of all site equipment and tools, location of the collar of the hole, ensuring correct alignment with front and back sites, offsets, depth and setting of the drill at the correct angle. May be responsible for the training of new drillers in a safe environment. Performs surveys according to client.

This Position Is For Sonic Drillers, Or

• Geotechnical drillers looking to move to train on sonic drills
• Sonic drillers in training looking to progress to lead driller Position requirements:
• Driller or driller’s helper experience related to sonic or geotechnical drilling
• Ability to work in mining and oil & gas environments including the ability to pass pre-access, post incident, and annual drug and alcohol screening
• Class 5 or better drivers license with reasonable drivers abstract (commercial DL is an asset)
• Willingness to work with a wide variety of equipment
• Willingness to work long hours outdoors in all conditions
• Willingness to work hard, and travel for work
• Willingness to perform both shop based and field based work
• Willing to learn new advanced geotechnical testing techniques involving sophisticated electronic testing equipment

Education And Experience
