Overview
We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to elevate our wine and beverage experience. You’ll curate selections, manage wine programs, host tastings, and provide exceptional service in a dynamic and intimate dining environment.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and understand their preferences to provide wine recommendations.
- Curate and update the wine list featuring key regions (France, Italy, Japan, etc.).
- Develop a profitable wine strategy aligned with restaurant concept and clientele.
- Foster strong relationships with wine suppliers and source exclusive selections.
- Collaborate with the culinary team on wine pairings for seasonal menus.
- Provide professional wine presentation, explaining aromas, styles, and vintages.
- Host wine dinners, tastings, and private events to drive engagement.
- Train service staff on wine knowledge to enhance overall guest experience.
- Set wine sales targets and review performance with the manager.
- Oversee proper wine storage and manage inventory to reduce waste.
- Handle guest feedback, inquiries, and complaints graciously.
- Support the service team in guest interactions and F&B operations when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of sommelier or wine service experience.
- Formal wine certification (WSET, CMS, or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of global wines, including sake and Japanese wine.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Passion for hospitality and guest interaction.
- Team player with a flexible, hands-on attitude.
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin or Japanese is an advantage to liaise with Mandarin or Japanese speaking guests.
