Job summary

TD Bank Group is seeking a Solutions Design IT Specialist (Power BI Technical Administrator) to serve as the enterprise administrator for the organization’s Power BI environment. You will ensure a secure, scalable, and high-performing analytics platform across the enterprise from Toronto, Ontario.

Key responsibilities include configuring Power BI Premium capacities, managing workspaces, and administering services with a focus on security, compliance, and performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree or certificate required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Strong Power BI Service administration and Premium capacity management experience.
  • Solid Azure ecosystem experience and governance knowledge.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting for automation and governance.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain policies to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, configure, and maintain Power BI Premium capacities, including workload settings and performance monitoring.
  • Manage Power BI Premium capacities (cloud) and assign workspaces and groups.
  • Administer and maintain the Power BI service — workspace governance, dataflows, and apps.
  • Configure tenant-level settings via the Power BI Admin Portal and enforce policies.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and licensing (Pro, PPU, Premium).
  • Apply row-level security and restrict sharing/exporting.
  • Support compliance, auditing, data privacy, and data classification.
  • Integrate security with LDAP/AD/Azure AD/SAML and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor data refresh schedules and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Serve as first line of defense when reports fail to refresh or access is denied.
  • Use best practices around import vs direct query and dataset reuse.
  • Utilize scripting for automation.

Line of Business: Technology Solutions Pay Details: $96,900 - $136,800 CAD This role is temporarily eligible for a pay premium above the posted salary range that is reassessed annually. ROLE SUMMARY

The Solutions Design IT Specialist (Power BI Technical Administrator) serves as the enterprise administrator and technical authority for the organization's Power BI environment, including Pro, (Indeed) ensuring a secure, scalable, and high-performing analytics platform.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Architect, configure, and maintain Power BI Premium capacities, including workload settings, refresh optimization, and performance monitoring (Indeed)
  • Manage Power BI Premium capacities (cloud) and assign workspaces, including workspace and group management
  • Administer and maintain the Power BI service — service, gateway, workspaces, dataflows, and apps (Dice.com)
  • Use the Power BI Admin Portal to configure and enforce tenant-level settings, policies, and best practices (ZipRecruiter)
  • Manage user access, permissions, and licensing (Pro, PPU, Premium)
  • Apply row-level security, restrict sharing/publishing, and restrict export and printing
  • Support compliance, auditing, data privacy, and data classification
  • Integrate security with enterprise LDAP, AD, Azure AD, SAML, and other identity providers ( Enable CI/CD deployment pipelines and manage workspace governance
  • Monitor data refresh schedules and troubleshoot performance/connectivity issues
  • Serve as first line of defense when reports fail to refresh or access is denied (Graphed)
  • Apply best practices around import vs. direct connectivity, dataset reuse, and file size management
  • Use PowerShell/CMD scripting for automation
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Graduate degree, preferred 7+ years relevant experience
  • Deep expertise in Power BI Service administration and Premium capacity management
  • Strong Azure and Microsoft ecosystem experience (Glassdoor)
  • PowerShell scripting for automation and governance
  • Understanding of DAX, semantic models, and data architecture (Fabric/Databricks a plus for enterprise environments)
  • Strong communication skills — ability to explain technical policies to non-technical business users.
