Job summary

Mariner is building a talent pipeline for Solution Architect opportunities based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The onsite role designs and delivers scalable, secure technology solutions to support complex business initiatives and integrates with ERP, data platforms, and cloud services.

The successful candidate will work with stakeholders, enterprise architects, and technical teams to define strategies, create architecture designs, and guide implementation across a diverse technology landscape.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of IT experience with solution architecture, systems design, or enterprise application delivery.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, system integrations, APIs, and data flows.
  • Experience creating detailed architecture and technical design documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Solid understanding of security, networking, identity management, and infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience working in Agile and hybrid project delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solution designs.
  • Define end-to-end solution architectures that align with business objectives, enterprise standards, and security requirements.
  • Create and review Solution Design Documents (SDDs) and Technical Specifications.
  • Design integration and data flow diagrams, and evaluate technology options.
  • Lead architecture discussions and provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.
  • Ensure solutions meet scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance requirements.
  • Support integration initiatives involving ERP, cloud platforms, data platforms, and third-party solutions.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams during implementation.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, governance, and risk assessments.

OVERVIEW

We are building a talent pipeline for upcoming Solution Architect opportunities supporting a leading organization in the shipbuilding Industry. This onsite role will be based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and will play a key role in designing and delivering scalable, secure, and integrated technology solutions that support complex business and operational initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, project managers, and enterprise architects to define solution strategies, create architecture designs, and guide implementation across a diverse technology landscape.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solution designs.
  • Define end-to-end solution architectures that align with business objectives, enterprise standards, and security requirements.

  • Evaluate technology options and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Lead architecture discussions and provide technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Support integration initiatives involving enterprise applications, cloud platforms, ERP systems, data platforms, and third-party solutions.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams during implementation.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, governance processes, and technical risk assessments.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and modernization initiatives.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU'LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:

  • 8+ years of experience in IT, including significant experience in solution architecture, systems design, or enterprise application delivery.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, system integrations, APIs, and data flows.
  • Experience creating detailed architecture and technical design documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding of security, networking, identity management, and infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience working in Agile and hybrid project delivery environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within shipbuilding, manufacturing, engineering, industrial, defense, or other large-scale operational environments.
  • Experience with ERP platforms, asset management systems, and operational technology environments.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and best practices.
  • Familiarity with data architecture, analytics, and integration platforms.
  • Professional certifications such as:
    • TOGAF
    • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect
    • AWS Solutions Architect
    • PMP or equivalent
