Job summary

PCL Solar Constructors Canada Inc. in Oakville, Ontario, is seeking a Solar Designer to join our team and help bring large-scale solar projects from concept to completion alongside project, engineering and construction teams.

You will contribute to conceptual designs, electrical analyses, and production modelling while building strong relationships with stakeholders and applying knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, ETAP and PVsyst.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, architecture, trade or a related field.
• 0-1 years of progressive experience as drafter/designer is preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Working knowledge of ETAP is asset.
• Working knowledge of PVsyst is asset.
• Ability to learn and apply basic construction principles, specifications, and procedures.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including supervisors, developers, suppliers, and subtrade partners.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
• Experience with GitHub and Python language an asset

Responsibilities

• Create conceptual greenfield solar facilities and battery storage systems.
• Review codes, regulations and developer specifications.
• Complete calculations and electrical analyses.
• Assist in QA/QC, including checklists.
• Conduct preliminary electrical system modelling.
• Conduct preliminary production modelling.

• Create and maintain schedules and monitor performance.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the creation of conceptual greenfield utility scale Solar Facilities and Battery Energy Storage Systems
• Reviews applicable codes, regulations and developer specifications.
• Completes all calculations and electrical analysis.
• Assists in completing package QA/QC, including conducting quality checklists.
• Conducts preliminary electrical system modelling
