Job summary

CNH Industrial invites a Soil & Crop Modeling Engineering Intern to join the SCM team in Saskatoon, working on virtual soil and crop models and simulation workflows. You will contribute to validation activities and gain hands‑on experience with CNH’s DEM/CFD tools and virtual testing environments.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an Associates to Post‑graduate program in Agricultural/Mechanical/Engineering fields and are prepared to work on-site May–August.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Associates, Technical, Bachelor’s, or Post‑graduate degree in the listed majors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate virtual dust and debris models using DEM/CFD tools.
• Perform lab and field measurements; process data for simulation.
• Develop coupled DEM‑CFD models for dust and debris interactions with equipment.
• Expand virtual models to support varied operating conditions.
• Collaborate with soil modeling, design, and testing teams on CNH equipment.

Job Purpose

The CNH Soil and Crop Modeling (SCM) Team develops cutting‑edge simulation technologies that help design and optimize agricultural equipment used around the world. Our team combines expertise in engineering, physics, and computational modeling to simulate how soil and crop materials interact with machine components, enabling faster innovation and more efficient product development.

SCM engineers utilize advanced modeling techniques, including the Discrete Element Method (DEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Multi‑Body Dynamics (MBD), to evaluate machine performance in virtual environments. These tools allow the team to support concept development, solve complex engineering challenges, and improve equipment designs long before physical testing begins.

As an SCM intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers on real‑world projects, contributing directly to the development of virtual crop and soil models, simulation workflows, and validation activities. Interns are valued members of the team and play an active role in advancing CNH's simulation capabilities and engineering innovation

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and validate virtual dust and debris models for heavy machinery and field operations using coupled Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation software.
• Perform laboratory and field measurements of physical and mechanical dust and debris properties; process experimental data and incorporate findings into dust and debris simulation models.
• Develop coupled DEM‑CFD models to simulate dust and debris generation, particle transport, and interactions with heavy equipment.
• Expand CNH’s library of virtual dust and debris models to support the simulation of agricultural/construction operations and equipment performance under varying conditions.
• Collaborate with soil modeling, design, simulation, and test engineering teams to support the design, validation, and continuous improvement of CNH heavy equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates may be pursuing an Associates, Technical, Bachelor’s, or Post‑graduate degree in the following majors or a related field: Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Engineering, Biological/Biosystem/Bioresource Engineering, Agronomy

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $23.69 - $25.75 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
