Job summary

Aversan Inc. in Brampton, ON is seeking a Software Safety Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on establishing safety requirements and conducting safety analyses for aerospace, defence, and space projects.

The position is full-time with a hybrid work arrangement. The ideal candidate has a software safety background in safety-critical development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work across engineering disciplines to ensure safety is embedded throughout the software

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Strong software safety experience in a safety-critical development environment.
• Ability to communicate with multiple engineering disciplines to develop safety requirements.
• Strong aptitude for continuous improvement.
• Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety/hazard assessments and analyses on projects with complex electromechanical systems and software.
• Perform software criticality analysis.
• Develop product software safety requirements to meet customer and mission needs.
• Conduct trade-off studies to ensure the right requirements.
• Collaborate with design, systems engineering and software teams to embed safety inputs.
• Analyze safety-critical software documentation and source code for safety.
• Review reused software for safety.
• Defend safety decisions to internal and external customers.
• Ensure safety requirements are addressed in the design phase.
• Contribute to System Safety Analysis Reports.
• Present safety designs at safety review panels.

We are currently seeking a qualified Software Safety Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for product safety requirements and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Performing safety/hazard assessments and analyses on projects involving complex electromechanical systems with a significant software component.
• Performing software criticality analysis
• Developing product software safety requirements to meet customer and mission requirements
• Performing trade-off studies to ensure the requirements are the right requirements
• Working with design, systems engineering and software groups to ensure that safety-related inputs are incorporated into the design.
• Analyzing safety-critical software documentation and source code for safety
• Analyzing reused software for safety
• Defend safety decisions to internal and external customers
• Ensure safety requirements are met in design phase
• Contribute to System Safety Analysis Reports
• Present safety designs at safety review panels

Basic Qualifications

Compensation:$120,000 – $135,000 CAD (annual salary)

The base salary or rate offered to an applicant within this range is determined by considering several factors, including the individual's geographic location, skills, competencies, and unique qualifications. This ensures compensation is fair and aligned with the specific requirements and attributes of each candidate.
