How You Will Contribute

The Platform Test team plays a critical role in the software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality standards across our products.

• Develop test strategies and plans to execute manual and automated tests, addressing both positive and negative scenarios.
• Collaborate with developers to clarify feature requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Create and maintain automated test suites using Python to support the delivery of product solutions to the market.
• Assist in developing applications and automation solutions to test product-agnostic common platforms.
• Configure and connect nodes and test sets in the lab for testing and validation.

The Must Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent.
• Foundational knowledge of Python or other scripting languages (e.g., Perl or Bash).
• Comfort working with hardware in a lab environment and willingness to learn in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience with Linux-based workstations.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Strong aptitude for rapidly learning complex technological concepts and applying them effectively.
• Excellent written documentation and interpersonal communication skills in English.

Nice to Haves

• Familiarity with Python-based test frameworks.
• Experience with Bitbucket, GitHub, and code-commit processes.
• Knowledge of Jenkins for automation.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence for project tracking and collaboration.
• Hands‑on experience with TestRail for creating test cases and capturing test results.

Pay Range

The annual pay range for this position is $ 64,700 - 103,300 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non‑Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
