Job summary

Shipfusion is seeking a Software Engineering Team Lead to guide the Development Support function across our PHP, MySQL, and React platform. You’ll own production incidents, drive code quality, and partner with Product, Operations, and Customer Success to improve platform health.

You will mentor junior developers, establish engineering standards, and help scale our systems and tooling for reliability and faster incident resolution.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience developing production applications using PHP.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL, query optimization, indexing, and database performance.
• Experience building modern frontend applications using React.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production issues across full-stack applications.
• Experience leading developers or technical support teams.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and scalable application design.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience performing code reviews and mentoring developers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Development Support team responsible for production issues, bug fixes, investigations, and platform stability.
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex production issues.
• Write high-quality production code in PHP and React while maintaining best engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across PHP applications, MySQL databases, APIs, and frontend applications.
• Identify recurring support issues and drive permanent engineering solutions.
• Conduct code reviews with a focus on maintainability, performance, security, and consistency.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers through technical guidance and coaching.
• Help establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, and development best practices.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Customer Success, and Engineering to prioritize production issues.
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and debugging capabilities across the platform.
• Own production deployments and assist with release management.
• Improve internal tooling to increase developer productivity.
• Participate in architecture discussions and recommend improvements to scalability and reliability.
• Monitor system health, application performance, and database performance.
• Help reduce technical debt through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document recurring issues, troubleshooting guides, and engineering knowledge.
• Support incident management, root cause analysis, and post-mortem reviews.

The Opportunity:

Shipfusion is looking for a Software Engineering Team Lead to lead our Development Support function across our PHP, MySQL, and React platform. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering of the company, you'll lead the team responsible for investigating production issues, supporting customer-impacting incidents, reducing technical debt, and improving the overall health of our platform.

In this role you will…
