Job summary

Amazon's Advertiser Growth Engine team in Toronto is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to own full development lifecycle, from feature ideation to deployment and operation. You will build high‑availability, low‑latency services serving millions of users and mentor junior engineers to uphold high standards.

You will design and implement end‑to‑end software solutions, participate in code reviews, diagnose issues, collaborate with product managers and stakeholders, and push for scalable,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software solutions across the full development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Write high‑quality, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback that raises the bar for the entire team.
• Identify root causes of operational issues and drive permanent fixes, continuously improving system reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners — including product managers, stakeholders, and peer engineers — to understand customer needs and deliver the right solutions.
• Mentor and coach team members on software best practices, system design tradeoffs, and effective use of generative AI tools to improve productivity and code quality.
