Developer Productivity Engineering

Developer Productivity Engineering’s purpose is to make work better for every engineer at Affirm. This group focuses on development tooling, pre‑production environments, and everything that makes working in a complex technical environment easier and more efficient. We manage everything between the developer’s laptop and production—including transient development environments, CI/CD pipelines, workflow, test automation, dependency management, and release engineering—to help developers write code and release into production as quickly and safely as possible. This role supports a team of 800+ engineers across a wide array of technologies in a hypergrowth fintech environment.

What You’ll Do

• With the support of your team’s tech lead and manager, break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
• Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics—participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade‑offs.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in on‑call and “keep the lights on” efforts.
• Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.

What We Look For

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems and proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and execute it by writing clear, well‑tested, and extensible code.
• Comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing feedback to teammates through code reviews.
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with the global engineering team.
• Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Grade – L • Equity Grade – 5

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents).
Canadian employees typically start at the lower end of the pay range; the base pay range is $125,000 – $175,000 CAD per year.
