Job summary

TD is seeking a skilled mainframe developer in Toronto to contribute to complex applications, systems, and UI designs. You will participate in planning, coding, and delivery while upholding security and quality standards across projects.

The role requires 3+ years in mainframe development, experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, IMS DB/DC or DB2, and proficiency with source control and job schedulers. Familiarity with Agile and ITSM tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mainframe development and support experience, financial industry preferred.
• Hands-on mainframe skills: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, TSO, ISPF, IMS DC/DB and/or DB2.
• Experience with source control (Endevor, SCM, Changeman) and job scheduling tools (CA-7, Autosys, AWF).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ITSM tools (Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow).
• Nice to have MQ, GitHub Copilot, and banking industry familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to functional, technical and UI designs.
• Participate in complex applications development, planning, estimates, coding and status updates.
• Perform peer reviews to ensure quality, standards and maintainability.
• Identify and address issues impacting application integrity and releases.
• Develop, troubleshoot and enhance components with partners to meet requirements.

Job Description

• Contribute to top-notch functional, technical and user interface designs.
• Participate in complex applications and systems development, project planning, estimates, programming and status update ensuring project deliverables are on time, and adhere to the corporate quality and security standards.
• Participate in peer to peer code reviews to address quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance.
• Identify issue, develop, maintain processes and address any issue that affects the integrity of the application (e.g. cross-capability/release issues).
• Make enhancements and troubleshoot.
• Configure and develop custom components with technology partners (analysts, developers, designers etc.) to meet requirements and goals.
• Ensure applications are free of common coding vulnerabilities (and follow standard security practices).
• Proactively put forward ideas that speak to project objectives (e.g. development, testing solutions, and tools).
• Complete unit and integration testing per standards and design specs.
• Respect TD's technology delivery practices and standards, project management disciplines.
• Participate in sharing technical knowledge during incident management life cycle (e.g. analyzes reports and outages, perform impact assessments, facilitate stakeholder communication).
• On call rotation may be required.

Job Requirements

• Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate.
• 3+ years of relevant mainframe application development and Support experience (Financial Industry Preferred)
• Working experience mainframe skills with the following:

Must have

• COBOL, JCL, VSAM, TSO, ISPF, IMS DC/DB and or DB2
• Source Control (any of): Endevor, SCM, Changeman
• Job scheduling tools (any of): CA-7, Autosys, AWF

Should have

• Agile experience
  • ITSM tools: Jira, Confluence and Service Now

Nice to have

• Mainframe utilities: IDz, ZDT, ADDI, PD tool, IMS Explorer for Development
• General knowledge to have MQ
• GitHub Copilot
• Banking Industry preferred
