Job summary

South Bow in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Software Development Co-op starting January 2027 for a 12-month term. You will contribute to building reusable software components, explore AI-assisted development, and help standardize patterns across our applications portfolio.

You will collaborate with software developers, business analysts and leads, participate in testing and documentation, and seek opportunities to automate tasks using AI.

The Opportunity:

South Bow is seeking a Software Development Co-op Student beginning January 2027 for a 12-month work term.

What You'll Do:

• Develop reusable software components, templates, and accelerators that improve developer productivity and solution consistency across the custom-developed applications portfolio.
• Explore and apply AI-assisted development techniques to streamline coding, testing, documentation, and analysis activities.
• Support the standardization of development patterns, coding practices, and technical design approaches to improve quality, maintainability, and delivery efficiency.
• Assist with impact analysis by identifying dependencies, integration points, and potential risks associated with application changes and enhancements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, and knowledge assets that improve maintainability and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and technical leads to support the delivery of application enhancements and future platform capabilities.
• Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance activities to help ensure reliable, secure, and high-quality solutions.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive development, support, and operational tasks through AI and software engineering best practices.
• Support modernization initiatives and technical readiness activities for future business and system capabilities, including potential Prairie Connector functionality.
• Research emerging AI, automation, and software engineering practices and recommend practical applications within the custom-developed applications portfolio.

Minimum Requirements:

Actively enrolled in a post-secondary program focused on Software Development, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

Must actively be a part of your institution's Co-op program.

Must provide transcripts upon application.
