Amazon's S3 team in Vancouver is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the Routing and Blob Placement group. You will steer architectural decisions, balance durability, availability and cost, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable storage solutions.
As a senior leader, you will mentor engineers, own the technical roadmap, participate in on-call rotations, and drive operational excellence while hiring and developing a high-performing team in a fast-moving environment.

Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) provides a simple web services interface that enables customers to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere in the world, leveraging Amazon’s proven computing infrastructure for scalable, reliable, secure, and cost‑effective storage.
As the leader of the Routing and Blob Placement team, you will interact with stakeholders in the Storage Request and Control Plane systems, bridging the gap between the physical and logical views of the fleet. You will work on optimization problems, balancing software resiliency, availability, performance, and cost aspects of S3’s fleet and capacity.
The team tackles algorithmic and infrastructure problems related to routing and placement of customer bytes and requests in S3, focusing on security, durability, software resiliency, availability, performance, and cost.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
