Job description

We are currently seeking a Software Development Manager to join our Engineering team for Draft, our AI‑powered legal drafting product. This role is available to candidates local to our Burnaby hub, where you will be expected to be in office minimum twice per week on our Anchor Days.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the triad (Designer+Product+Development Manager) to understand business challenges, identify impactful opportunities, and craft a roadmap for the team.
• Work with your team on designing technical solutions.
• Provide feedback on code reviews, architecture documents, and support members in making technical decisions.
• Act as a contributing developer—review code extensively or ship code.
• Hold regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports to support their career growth and development goals.
• Participate in hiring to grow the engineering team.
• Review code contributed by your team or other Clio developers, offering guidance based on your expertise.

• Demonstrated success in people leadership in software development, particularly with large‑scale SaaS products.
• Strong background in hands‑on software development.
• Diverse base of knowledge that enables the team to solve complex technical problems.
