We are currently hiring a full-time S oftware Development Engineer in Test (SDET II) to join the Mobile Apps team in the Bestbuy.ca group. As a SDET you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to continually advocate for the integrity of our QA process for all major deployments.

We practice a remote first working model, leveraging in‑person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

What you'll do :
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for mobile applications on Android and iOS platforms.
  • Build and enhance mobile test automation frameworks, ensuring robust coverage for both native and hybrid mobile apps.
  • Plan, document, and execute functional and regression automated tests in Java or Groovy.
  • Integrate mobile test automation into CI / CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins).
  • Participate in grooming and sprint planning sessions to establish priorities and share input with product and development teams.
  • Researching test tools, methodologies, and trends to upgrade existing practices and processes.
  • Collaborate with the team, product owners, and stakeholders to create an automated test strategy and product test plan.
  • Log bugs in JIRA with steps and details to help pinpoint developmental issues.
  • Maintain and update automated test plans, scenarios, and cases to meet system integration, functional, regression, and performance testing requirements.
What we’re looking for :
  • 3+ years of test automation experience using Java or Groovy.
  • 2+ years of experience in mobile test automation for both Android and iOS applications
  • 3+ years of experience in planning, designing, developing, and executing tests.
  • 2+ years of experience with Test Frameworks e.g. TestNG, Spock framework.
  • Familiarity with mobile device emulators, simulators, and cloud‑based device farms.
  • Strong knowledge of Git / GitHub, Jenkins, and other DevOps tools.
  • Experience in agile / scrum environments with strong knowledge of QA and software development processes.
