Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer/Electrical) or related field.
  • 8+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in C programming.
  • 5+ years of experience in ARM architecture and low-level software development.
  • 1+ year of AUTOSAR concepts and integration.
  • Experience with CAN and Embedded Ethernet communication stacks.
  • Proven memory footprint and CPU utilization optimization experience.
  • Experience with software quality practices and defect reduction.
  • Effective cross-team communication.
  • Automotive embedded software experience is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with MISRA, ASPICE, or ISO 26262 is an advantage.
  • Performance profiling, static analysis, and toolchain optimization experience.
  • Mentoring engineering staff is an advantage.
  • Experience with LIN, SOME/IP, or diagnostics over IP is an advantage.
  • Authorized to work in Canada; Ford sponsorship not offered.

Responsibilities

  • Use AI and automation to drive high-leverage development work and shape team AI practices.
  • Design, develop, and debug embedded C software for low-level and platform components.
  • Drive performance optimization across RAM usage, CPU load, and compiler settings.
  • Improve system robustness through runtime behavior analysis and fault handling.
  • Define and track software quality metrics; lead reliability improvements.
  • Own architecture, interfaces, and strategy for a critical embedded component.
  • Negotiate requirements and scope with stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and coach across teams.
  • Communicate technical content, tradeoffs, and risks to engineers, PMs, and leadership.
  • Maintain a system-level mindset and align decisions with product architecture.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive improvements in quality, stability, and delivery predictability
  • Mentor junior engineers and coach across teams
  • Communicate technical content, tradeoffs, and risks to engineers, program managers, and leadership
  • Maintain a system-level mindset and align component decisions with overall product architecture
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer/Electrical) or related field of study
  • Minimum 8 years of embedded software development experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in C programming
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ARM architecture and low-level software development
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with AUTOSAR concepts and integration
  • Experience with communication stacks such as CAN and Embedded Ethernet
  • Proven experience optimizing memory footprint, CPU utilization, and compiler options
  • Experience with software quality practices, metrics, and defect reduction
  • Effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Automotive embedded software development experience is an advantage
  • Familiarity with MISRA, ASPICE, or ISO 26262 is an advantage
  • Experience with performance profiling, static analysis, and toolchain optimization is an advantage
  • Experience mentoring engineers is an advantage
  • Experience with LIN, SOME/IP, or diagnostics over IP is an advantage
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
