Job summary

Workday is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to help build AI agents for HR & Finance within a cross-functional team. You will implement tooling strategies, stay updated on industry trends, and ensure AI solutions integrate smoothly into the Workday stack.

You will contribute technically and foster a team-first culture, delivering high-impact products that scale our AI capabilities for global organizations, while embracing a flexible work model and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with Python web frameworks (Flask, Django or FastAPI).
• Experience with React and TypeScript for front-end/full-stack development.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).

Agent Factory is where Workday’s next chapter gets built. We’re forming small, senior, cross-functional AI teams that bring together product leaders, machine learning engineers, and full-stack builders to create intelligent agents used by millions of people every day. About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to contribute to a cross-functional team building transformative AI agents for HR & Finance. This role is crucial in implementing tooling strategies, staying informed about industry trends, and ensuring our AI-driven solutions integrate effectively within the Workday stack. Your technical contributions and team-first attitude will play a key role in delivering high-impact products that scale our AI capabilities and help global organizations simplify complex business processes. You will:

• Collaborate with a team of engineers to deliver AI-powered agents that integrate deeply into HR and Financial workflows, accelerating intelligent decision making.
• Participate in a supportive, iterative team culture that values curiosity, learning, and strong engineering practices
• Contribute to the growth and success of your teammates through knowledge sharing and mentorship
• Take ownership of multiple functional areas in our platform — from development to production (“you build it, you run it”)

About You

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• 2+ years experience with a web development framework (Python preferred: Flask, Django, or FastAPI)
• 1+ years of experience with React and Typescript for Front End / Full stack development
• 1+ years with a Relational DB (PostgreSQL preferred)

Other Qualifications

• Experience building and operating SaaS products in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Familiarity with the tradeoffs and architecture of modern distributed systems
• Knowledge of software development best practices (DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability)
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch
• Experience working within fast-paced, agile environments and multi-functional teams
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical partners
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and translating complex problems into clear, thoughtful solutions
• Committed to fostering an inclusive, team-oriented environment and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
