Job summary

General Motors in Markham is seeking an experienced QA Lead to build and guide a high-performing QA team in a hybrid role. You will mentor staff, define test strategies, and drive automation with Robot Framework and Appium while collaborating with cross-functional partners across engineering and product teams.

You must have 10+ years QA experience in mobile or automotive contexts, plus 3+ years leading Scrum teams and strong programming skills in Python and Java.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software quality assurance or test experience in mobile or automotive industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in testing Android code.
  • 3 years as a Scrum lead, Product Owner/Manager, or Team Lead.
  • Solid knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies and tools.
  • Strong experience with test automation framework (Robot Framework / Appium).
  • Programming skills in Python and Java.
  • Knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process.
  • Knowledge of connectivity technologies.
  • Experience with vehicle communication network protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SOME-IP) as a plus.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build an effective QA team.
  • Mentor the team and efficiently manage resources to support projects and ensure quality delivery.
  • Guide and provide feedback on team members' performance and behavior.
  • Support EGM on hiring process with acquisition of new talents.
  • Define test strategy and test plan based on software development plan for the projects.
  • Work with the team to design detailed test cases and setup the test environment.
  • Develop test tools and test scripts to automate the testing.
  • Prepare test reports.
  • Provide initial issue analysis.
  • Contribute to defect prevention.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of test processes and methodologies.

Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Center three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $115,000 to $164,600. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
