Job summary

Ciena in Ottawa is offering an IP QA internship starting September 2026 for 4, 8, 12 or 16 months. You will join the RSP QA team, gaining hands-on experience validating software features for IP switching platforms through manual and automated testing.

You'll work with engineers to build lab topologies, expand Python automation scripts, run test suites, report defects, and learn about the software development lifecycle in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a degree program in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems/Technology or equivalent.
• Foundational knowledge of software development concepts.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Python.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to set up new lab topologies and understand end-to-end IP systems.
• Enhance existing automation scripts written in Python.
• Develop new Python automation scripts.
• Execute defined test suites for software feature validation.
• Identify and report software defects.

Pay Range

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.50 - $35.00. Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
