Job summary

D-Wave Systems in Canada is seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our Processor Software team, supporting PD and HWE efforts. You will design, implement, and maintain software interfacing with quantum processors in production and lab environments.

Primary language is Common Lisp (SBCL), with collaboration across programmers, engineers, scientists, and physicists to calibrate, operate, and test the processor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering physics, electrical/computer engineering, physics, or computer science with a strong aptitude for physics and hardware experience, with 2+ years relevant software experience
  • Proficient in implementing hardware interfaces
  • Experience with Git: branching, merging, issuing pull requests, etc.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams and tackle a variety of problems
  • Demonstrated curiosity, flexibility, and passion for learning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
  • This is a one-year fixed-term position

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the full software life-cycle, including development, testing, validation, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers and scientists to develop the software for quantum processor calibration, hardware interfaces, and operation infrastructure, including system testing and monitoring
  • Enhance the reliability, usability, and maintainability of the software systems by improving test coverage, documentation, and code architecture
  • Maintain, extend, and optimize custom-built software tools for supporting lab operations and ensure smooth interaction between the quantum hardware and software systems
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting ensuring the availability and performance of our QPU solvers on the Leap cloud platform

The softwarethispositiondevelopswill play a role inthe calibration, operation, and testing of our quantum processor.
