Job summary

Warner Bros. Discovery’s CNN Digital Commerce is hiring a Software Engineer II. You will work on modern enterprise-class stacks with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and React/Vue/Angular, focusing on scalable web apps like CNN Underscored.

Role requires 4+ years in software development, hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, serverless tooling, and a deep understanding of data structures. You’ll test, deploy, and build tooling to support rapid growth while shaping best practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development experience with a focus on application development.
• Proficient in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, and React/Vue/Angular, with knowledge of Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
• Experience with Fastly, AWS, Serverless/SAM, CloudFormation, Docker, Jenkins, and Git.
• Hands-on familiarity with both client and server technology and solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience building medium to large-scale, high-availability production systems that support business/technical operations.
• Demonstrated design skills and ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
• Active involvement in the technology community.
• Experience monitoring code health, infrastructure health and performance.

Your New Role…

CNN Digital Commerce is looking for a Software Engineer II experienced in modern enterprise-class languages and development platforms, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript/Node. This role will require deep involvement in design, implementation, test, and deployment of web applications such as CNN Underscored. The engineer will be responsible for creating customer facing products, testing artifacts, develop tooling to support massive growth of the CNN Commerce vertical. Candidate must have ability to test and learn newer technologies and concepts on the job related to best practices and operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience…

• 4+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on application development
• Proficient in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, and React/Vue/Angular, along with working knowledge of Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
• Experience with Fastly, AWS, Serverless/SAM, CloudFormation, Docker, Jenkins, and Git.
• Hands‑on familiarity with both client and server technology. Have a solid understanding of common software data structures and algorithms
• Have previous involvement in building medium to large-scale, "mission critical", "high availability" production systems that directly support essential business and technical, or operational functions
• Demonstrable design skills and the related strengths in clearly articulating difficult technical concepts and information
• Active in the technology community
• Experience with strategies to monitor code health, infrastructure health and performance of applications.

Nice to Have...

• Experience working in e‑commerce, affiliate platforms, and consumer media
• Experience working on Kanban/Scrum teams and the tools used for project management
• Active in the technology community
• Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum or Kanban)
• Experience in non‑procedural programming or applying functional‑style concepts professionally considered a plus.
• Two years of object‑based JavaScript experience is a plus.

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $94,200.00 - $150,700.00 salary per year.
