Job summary

Procom, on behalf of our client, is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer for a 1-year on-site contract in Ottawa. You will design and implement BSPs and bootloader features, build secure boot capabilities, and work with ARM-based ECUs across new and legacy platforms.

The role requires deep C/Assembly, Linux/QNX, driver development (UART/I2C/SPI/CAN), cryptography (RSA, DES, AES, SHA-1), and familiarity with JTAG and logic analyzers; you’ll collaborate in a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing and developing BSPs, Linux/QNX, and bootloaders, across ECUs both new and legacy.
• Strong, proven experience in C and Assembly language.
• Comfort reading electronic schematics and knowledge of embedded operating systems and kernel-level work.
• Hands-on debugging with JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Driver development across UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN/CAN FD.
• Deep familiarity with ARM A and M series processors.
• Cryptographic knowledge including RSA, DES, AES, SHA-1; experience with SHE/HSM.
• Experience with eMMC/flash memory tied to ECU stability, NAND/NOR memory controllers.
• Track record designing and implementing a custom bootloader.
• Experience with Git or SVN.

Required Experience

• Strong experience designing and developing BSPs, Linux/QNX, and bootloaders, working across ECUs both new and legacy
• Strong, proven experience in C and Assembly language
• Comfort reading electronic schematics. Solid knowledge of embedded operating systems and kernel level work
• Hands-on skill with debugging tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
• Driver development experience across UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN/CAN FD
• Sharp problem-solving instincts and a knack for intuitive debugging
• Deep familiarity with ARM processors, both A series and M series
• Strong cryptographic knowledge is a must, including RSA, DES, AES, and SHA-1. An understanding of the SHE specification, and experience with HSM or other SHE-based hardware security modules
• Experience with eMMC and flash memory tied to real-world ECU stability work, plus NAND and NOR memory controllers
