Job summary

Benji Pays in Vancouver is hiring an Intermediate Software Developer to build and maintain scalable, secure web applications using Node.js, Express, EJS, and MongoDB. You’ll contribute across frontend and backend, collaborate with product, design and support teams, and help deliver robust solutions.

You should bring 3+ years of web development experience, knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, and a passion for code quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in CS, Eng, or related field or equiv.
  • 3+ years experience building web apps.
  • Proficient in frontend and backend tech.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript/Typescript, HTML/CSS, responsive design.
  • Experience with MongoDB.
  • Experience building developer-facing front-end integration libraries or SDKs is a plus.
  • Experience with templating engines such as EJS.
  • Experience writing automated tests.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across stack layers.
  • Curiosity and love for problem solving.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow with the team.
  • Commitment to code quality, readability, maintainability, and testability.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack—from frontend to backend to database.
  • Implement and maintain integrations with third-party systems and APIs.
  • Drive the implementation of projects, features and enhancements through deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge with the team.

  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript / Typescript, HTML/CSS, and responsive development.
  • Experience using MongoDB.
  • Experience building developer-facing front-end integration libraries, or SDKs would be a strong asset.
  • Experience with templating engines or templated web frameworks such as EJS.
  • Experience writing automated tests.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues across multiple layers of the application stack.
  • Love for problem solving with an innate sense of curiosity.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow and improve with your team.
  • Passionate about code quality with a thorough understanding of software development concepts that promote readability, maintainability, and testability.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
