Job summary

Orion Steel Group, L.L.C. is seeking a Software Analyst (Information Technology) to design, develop and support manufacturing IT systems in our Calgary facility. You will work with lean and agile methodologies to deliver production-critical solutions.

The candidate should have 5+ years in .NET, a CS degree, and hands-on experience with Proficy iFIX/WinCC SCADA and PLC communications. Join a team focused on excellence in a challenging industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years designing, developing and deploying applications within a Microsoft .NET environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with SCADA HMI development using Proficy iFIX or WinCC and PLC communications would be an asset.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to balance multiple priorities in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and support systems in a manufacturing environment using lean and agile methods.
  • Collaborate onsite with Production, Quality, Health & Safety, Maintenance and Shipping teams to understand systems.
  • Contribute to design and maintenance of proprietary software to enable manufacturing operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a .NET Developer to join our team in Calgary. In this role, this individual would be responsible to design, develop and support systems in an exciting manufacturing environment that utilizes current IT technologies to deliver production critical solutions using lean and agile programming methods. This position would report to the Director, Information Systems & Tech.

  • Contribute your technical and professional skills in a team environment that works on applications utilizing:
    • Industrial computers over wireless networks
    • Integrated client/server environment
    • Automation and control through a variety of Industrial protocols
    • Innovation to design and develop customized process feedback solutions
  • Collaborate onsite with our Production, Quality, Health & Safety, Maintenance and Shipping teams to gain knowledge of the different systems they work with
  • Contribute towards design, development, maintenance of proprietary software applications to enable effective functioning of manufacturing systems
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience designing, developing and deploying applications within a Microsoft .NET environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Technical strengths in several of the following Microsoft technologies:
    • Visual Studio VB / C# / ASP.NET
    • Visual C++
    • SQL Server and Management Studio
    • Windows Presentation Framework (WPF)
    • Windows Communication Framework (WCF)
    • Entity Data Model (EDM)
    • Reporting Services
  • Experience with SCADA HMI development using Proficy iFIX or WinCC and PLC communications would be considered an asset
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Collaborative team player, open minded and innovative
  • Applicants must be comfortable in an industrial setting and be willing to take after-hour calls in a 24 x 7 manufacturing environment
