Giant Tiger in Whitby, ON is seeking a Softgoods Supervisor (Full-Time) to lead a department and deliver outstanding customer service. You will oversee daily operations, train staff on policies, and ensure accurate pricing, signage, and merchandise replenishment.

You bring proven team leadership, strong planning and merchandising skills, and 1–3 years of retail management or as a keyholder with Giant Tiger.

• Enforce GT System policies, procedures and standards.
• Provide input on scheduling and quantification.
• Resolve customer complaints quickly and professionally.
• Open and close the store on a rotating basis.
• Support local community and store initiatives.
• Ensure health and safety policies are followed.
• Maintain a clean and organized checkout area and enforce loss prevention practices.

About This Role

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Ensuring a high level of customer service, for assigned departments.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations;
• Training and communicating policies and procedures to department associates on a daily basis;
• E.g. SKU, pricing issues, printing signs, labels, operating the RF unit;
• Complete ordering and replenishment of merchandise;
• Supervising a team within the assigned departments while ensuring cross-functional collaboration;
• Ensuring execution of the GT System (policies, procedures, standards) by all associates;
• Takes appropriate action and provides recommendations based on analysis of assigned area;
• Leads merchandising activities;
• Following the best practices when receiving and processing merchandise;
• Prepare and participating in inventory management activities (e.g. cycle counts);
• Provide input to the store owner/manager into scheduling and quantification;
• Resolving customer complaints quickly and professionally;
• Opening and closing the store on a rotating basis;
• Actively involved and connected with the store’s local community;
• Supporting the store owner/manager on additional tasks and projects;
• Ensuring health and safety policies and guidelines are followed;
• Ensuring the checkout work area is kept clean and organized;
• Ensuring loss prevention best practices are followed;
• Ensuring compliance of all policies when selling tobacco and lottery.

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven motivator / team leader;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Effective customer service, communication and interpersonal skills (with employees, customers, vendors, other third party);
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills;
• Strong merchandising and analytical skills;
• 1-3 years retail management experience or equivalent Giant Tiger experience as a keyholder.

When You’ll Work

• A typical full-time schedule will consist of day shifts, two evenings per week, and alternating weekends with a schedule of 35-40 hours weekly.
• A typical part-time schedule will be a mix of days, evenings and weekends, up to 24 hours weekly.

Physical Demands of Position

• Stand and/or walk.
• Bend, twist, and squat.
• Lift and/or move up to 18 kg (40 lbs.).
• Perform tasks involving firm grasping.
• Perform repetitive tasks requiring a range of hand motions.
• Reach above shoulder height and below waist level.

Compensation

Annual Salary $43,576.00

Annual Bonus: Bonus - Store Bonus Plan, 10% Annual
