Job summary

Giant Tiger in Quebec is seeking a motivated Retail Manager to lead a department, drive sales, and ensure a great customer experience for every guest.

You will train associates on policies, oversee inventory and replenishment, manage scheduling and safety standards, and collaborate with store leadership to achieve performance goals.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years retail management experience or equivalent Giant Tiger experience as a keyholder.
• Proven motivator and team-leader abilities.
• Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong merchandising and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a high level of customer service for assigned departments (cash, softgoods, hardgoods or grocery).
• Oversee day-to-day operations and staffing.
• Train and communicate policies and procedures to department Associates daily.
• Manage merchandise ordering and replenishment; oversee inventory activities.
• Supervise a team within assigned departments and ensure cross-functional collaboration.
• Ensure execution of GT System policies, procedures and standards by all Associates.
• Provide actionable recommendations based on analysis of the assigned area.
• Lead merchandising activities and participate in inventory management (cycle counts).
• Contribute to scheduling input and quantification with Store Owner/Manager.
• Resolve customer complaints quickly and professionally.
• Open and close the store on a rotating basis.
• Be actively involved with the store’s local community and store projects.
• Support the store owner/manager on additional tasks and health & safety compliance.

About This Role:

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Ensuring a high level of customer service, for assigned departments (cash, softgoods, hardgoods or grocery)


• Oversee the day-to-day operations


• Training and Communicating policies and procedures to department Associates on a daily basis


• E.g. SKU, pricing issues, printing signs, labels, operating the RF unit


• Complete ordering and replenishment of merchandise


• Supervising a team within the assigned departments while ensuring cross-functional collaboration


• Ensuring execution of the GT System (policies, procedures, standards) by all Associates


• Takes appropriate action and provides recommendations based on analysis of assigned area


• Leads merchandising activities


• Prepare and participating in inventory management activities (e.g. cycle counts)


• Provide input to the Store Owner/Manager into scheduling and quantification


• Resolving customer complaints quickly and professionally


• Opening and closing the store on a rotating basis


• Actively involved and connected with the store’s local community


• Supporting the store owner/manager on additional tasks and projects


• Ensuring health and safety policies and guidelines are followed


• Ensuring the checkout work area is kept clean and organized


• Ensuring Loss prevention best practices are followed


• Ensuring compliance of all policies when selling Tobacco and Lottery

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong merchandising and analytical skills


• 1-3 years retail management experience or equivalent Giant Tiger experience as a keyholder

When You’ll Work:

A typical full-time schedule will consist of day shifts, two evenings per week, and alternating weekends with a schedule of 35-40 hours weekly. A typical part-time schedule will be a mix of days, evenings and weekends, up to 24 hours weekly.

Physical Demands of Position:

• Stand and/or walk


• Bend, twist, and squat


• Lift and/or move up to 18 kg (40 lbs)


• Perform tasks involving firm grasping


• Perform repetitive tasks requiring a range of hand motions


• Reach above shoulder height and below waist level


• Operate equipment, including using a ladder
