A leading environmental consulting firm in Canada is seeking an intermediate Socio-Economic Specialist to support socio-economic impact assessments across various industries. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least five years of related experience. Stantec has an opportunity for an intermediate Socio‑Economic Specialist to join our Environmental Services team in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The successful candidate will support socio‑economic impact assessment and related work across various industries.
This is an exciting time for socio‑economic impact assessment, driven by new legislation that mandates equal attention to both adverse and positive effects, as well as the inclusion of diverse sub‑populations in assessments. Stantec’s industry‑leading socio‑economic team is responding to these opportunities, and we’re looking for a new team member to join us. The ideal candidate will bring a strong interest—and some experience—in socio‑economic analysis, particularly in areas such as economic, employment, and business impacts. Experience in planning, monitoring, and managing socio‑economic effects is also valuable.
Bachelor’s degree in human geography, economics, sociology, anthropology, resource management, environmental science, planning, or related social sciences discipline required.
Master’s degree an asset.
Minimum of five years’ experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
