Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Social Worker II at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary to join an inter-disciplinary team and provide psychosocial services to patients and families. The role includes psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and transition/discharge planning.

The position focuses on acute neuro caseload with potential coverage on other units as required.

Qualifications

• Completion of bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
• Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
• Minimum 6 months experience in an adult acute care setting.
• Preferred: Experience on an adult neurology unit within the last year.

Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan. FMC has a Neuro Tertiary Unit as well as the majority of In-Patient Neurological services in Calgary.The present caseload for this position is in acute neuro, with the potential for coverage on any unit/service as required.
