Social Work Assistant (Brandon-based) – Full-time Term

Full-time term position until Friday, May 1, 2026.

About the Position

This full‑time term Social Work Assistant will support Family Service Social Workers in strengthening family units through a variety of services, including direct in‑home support, facilitating therapeutic access, and providing parent education and mentoring. The role requires 36 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday.

Successful applicants must have access to a vehicle and hold a valid Manitoba Class 5 (5F) Driver's License. Following orientation, a car allowance is provided bi‑weekly. The position is subject to a six‑month probationary period and falls under a collective agreement with wages determined by the SWA salary scale.

Responsibilities

Assist Social Workers in delivering in‑home support, coordinating therapeutic services, educating parents, and mentoring families.

Qualifications

• Completion of a university degree in a social science or a one‑year certificate / two‑year diploma in a social‑service related field from an accredited Canadian college (e.g., Social Service Worker diploma).
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in an additional language considered a definite asset (e.g., Spanish).
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently under the guidance of a supervisor or Social Worker.
• Solid understanding of child development, parenting, and family functioning.
• Valid Manitoba Class 5F Driver's License and ability to use a personal vehicle for work.
• Working knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity for all cultures.

Additional Information

• Successful completion of a Child Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Records Check (including vulnerable sector), Prior Contact Check, and Driver's Abstract Check. The candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred for the Criminal Record Check; other checks are covered by the Agency.
