A leading educational institution in Toronto is seeking a Social Media and Digital Content Specialist to enhance its brand presence on digital platforms. Position Title: Social Media and Digital Content Specialist
Status: Appendix D Contract
Hours: 40 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Marketing and Communications
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: Payband I - $40.39 - $46.64
Starting Salary: $40.39. Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outlined in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
Duration of Need: 11 Months
The Marketing and Communications department consists of Creative Services, Communications, and Marketing.
The Creative Services and Special Projects team captures Humber events and initiatives through photo and video work. The team includes photographers, videographers, and content creators to support Faculties and Departments through creative storytelling.
The Communications team produces and shares stories and information about Humber with the Humber community and the world through media relations, social media, internal communications, corporate storytelling, and issues management. The work of this team supports student recruitment, informs, and engages current students and faculty audiences, institutional stakeholders and partners, alumni, and the local community.
Humber's Marketing team leads institutional marketing strategy, multi‑channel advertising, brand strategy and stewardship, with a strong focus on driving recruitment through awareness and preference building. The team provides strategic consultation throughout the institution, supporting both ongoing operations and project‑specific needs.
Reporting to the Director, Communications and working with the Marketing and Communications team, the Social Media and Digital Content Specialist will work to enhance Humber Polytechnics’s reputation and brand on social media and digital platforms. The specialist will produce social media copy, appear in and film short‑form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok and/or YouTube Shorts (and other/future platforms), analyze results and produce reports, and play a key role in Humber’s content strategy and social media performance. The specialist will create, execute and deploy organic and paid social media content to drive engagement among prospective and current students, staff, faculty, alumni and other stakeholders on Humber Polytechnic’s social channels. Working with teams across the college, the specialist will identify appropriate content types, tactics and strategies to ensure content resonates with audiences on Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other/future social media platforms. As one of the primary contributors/responders to the central social media channels, the Social Media and Digital Content Specialist will monitor, identify issues and opportunities, and provide recommended actions to relevant stakeholders. They will actively engage, encourage dialogue, and respond to social media queries and concerns with a customer‑service focus. They will also work collaboratively with Contact Centre staff on social media monitoring. The incumbent will also develop recommendations for organic and paid social media campaigns. The incumbent will compile and evaluate audience insights, qualitative feedback, social‑media analytics, and social‑media trends to inform social‑media strategies.

3‑year diploma/degree in Media communications, media foundations, mass communications, professional writing, journalism, marketing or public relations.
