Job summary

Fortinet is seeking a skilled software engineer to design, develop and maintain security automation playbooks and AI-driven workflows. You will build Python services, REST APIs and reusable components, optimize PostgreSQL queries and maintain containerized microservices.

Collaboration with Product Development and QA teams is essential as you support SOC automation and platform integration. The role emphasizes hands-on security automation, AI/ML considerations, and experience with Docker, Git,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, cybersecurity engineering, security automation or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with SOAR platforms, security automation playbooks or incident response workflow automation.
  • Strong Python development and REST API programming experience.
  • Hands-on experience with AI Agents, Agentic AI and MCP concepts.
  • Experience with prompt engineering and structured LLM output generation.
  • Experience developing and evaluating traditional machine learning models (e.g., logistic regression, random forests, XGBoost, Isolation Forest, k-means).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
  • Experience with Docker, microservices and Linux/Bash.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD (GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions).
  • Experience building asynchronous or distributed applications.
  • Experience with JSON, YAML and Jinja2 templating.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Experience with Fortinet products is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-tenant architecture.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $92,000 - $112,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
