Job summary

Dexter Construction, part of The Municipal Group of Companies, is seeking seasonal Snowplow Operator positions based out of our Lower Sackville, NS location for the 2026/2027 season. Training at Dexter Institute and on-the-job mentorship with a senior operator are provided. Operations will service HRM.

Primary duties include snow removal, salting and sanding, pre/post trip inspections, and safely operating snow plows. Accommodations and opportunities for advancement may be available.

Qualifications

• Class 1 or Class 3 Driver’s Licence required.
• Previous snow plowing experience preferred.
• Willing to work day and night shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to operate snow plow equipment safely.
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
• Working safely is a condition of employment.

Dexter Construction, part of The Municipal Group of Companies is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently seeking to fill seasonal Snowplow Operator positions based out of our Lower Sackville, NS location for the 2026/2027 season. All snow clearing operations will be servicing the Halifax Regional Municipality. Training at Dexter Institute, our world class training facility and on the job mentorship with a senior experienced operator is provided.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Removal of snow and ice from HRM streets
• Salting and Sanding before and after weather events
• Completion of pre-trip and post trip inspections
• Safely operate snow plowing trucks and equipment
• Any other duties as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

• Class 1/Class 3 Driver’s License is required
• Previous snow plowing experience is preferred
• Willing to work day and night shifts, weekends and holidays when needed
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors
• Working safely is a condition of employment.
