Job summary

A year-round resort is seeking a Snow School Instructor to provide an amazing experience for guests, instructing and coaching skiing or snowboarding. The ideal candidate will have a minimum level 1 instructor certification, strong customer service skills, and a passion for the outdoors. Qualifications

  • Minimum level 1 or higher of recognized Ski or Snowboard Instructor Certification.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must have own skiing/snowboarding equipment.

Job description

We are presently searching for our next great team member as a Snow School Instructor to join our Snow School team. If you can provide our guests with an amazing experience, combined with working as an energetic part of our resort, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Instruct and coach guests of all ages and abilities to ski or snowboard within your instructor's certification level in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Provide safe learning environments in all lessons.
  • Properly assess students of their ability and place them in the appropriate groups
  • Set up and take down lesson equipment
  • Set up and take down crowd control measures and snow school signage.
  • Assist Ski School Supervisor in lesson planning
  • Adherence and teaching of the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • General on hill tasks and maintenance as required
  • Assist guests with products & services; in-person, by phone, and by e-mail
  • Provide guests with accurate information regarding Alpine Services and Manning Park Resort.
  • Prepare guest orders of rental equipment, snow school lessons, and/or lift tickets; processing payments through point-of-sale system.
  • Distributing pre-purchased rentals & tickets and registering Snow School participants.
  • Tech and adjust the rental equipment to meet specific customer needs.
  • Tuning and repairs of Guest Alpine Equipment and rental equipment when required.
  • Maintain a safe & clean environment for guests and colleagues at all times, including cleaning washrooms, cleaning floors and keeping the Alpine Guest Services Building sanitized.
  • Shoveling snow and maintaining a clear and ice-free environment around the AGS Building.
  • Follow outlined policies to find solutions to guests' issues.
  • Assist in the marketing, promotion and sales of Manning Park Resort products (ski school, group bookings, season passes and/or day tickets).
  • Other tasks as required.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
  • Minimum level 1 or higher of Canadian recognized Ski or Snowboard Instructor Certification or equivalent. (An additional $2/hr is paid for each additional certification level & an additional $1/hr is paid for a dual certified instructor per level)
  • Dual certification is an asset.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Will be required to work Weekends & Holidays.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be approachable, dependable and a strong team player
  • Good physical condition; Able to work in outdoor, adverse weather conditions and perform manual labor
  • Previous knowledge of the ski hill is an asset
  • Previous use of a Point of Sales System is an asset.
  • A minimum of intermediate ski/snowboard ability
  • Knowledge of the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • Must have own equipment
