SUMMARY

The Smart Building Analyst supports the delivery of intelligent building solutions by leveraging data analytics, operational coordination, and energy performance insights. This role contributes to the optimization of building systems and supports internal initiatives focused on improving building efficiency and operational outcomes, reporting to the Manager, Smart Buildings of BGIS’ Remote Command Centre.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Energy Analytics & Optimization
    • Analyze building performance data to identify energy‑saving opportunities.
    • Support recurring meetings focused on fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) and system optimization.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to validate findings and implement solutions.
  • Operational Coordination
    • Participate in recurring meetings such as work order creation and technical Q&A sessions.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely issue solutioning, project execution and track technical service activities, including scheduling, documentation, and follow‑ups.
    • Ensure timely resolution of outstanding items by liaising with cross‑functional teams and escalating issues as needed.
  • Communication & Reporting
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that summarize building performance, optimization efforts, and operational metrics.
    • Communicate findings and updates clearly to stakeholders through written summaries, presentations, and meeting contributions.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
  • Post‑secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, Building Automation Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Good understanding of HVAC systems/controls, and functions of building automation systems.
  • Good knowledge of optimization and energy management strategy for BAS system.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret specifications.
  • Experience with smart building platforms and energy analytics.
  • Familiar with BACNet, Modbus and other BAS protocol.
  • Possesses strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough understanding of control theory and control concepts.
  • Proven attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Bilingualism considered an asset.
LICENSE AND/OR PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATIONS

EIT, or eligible to pursue P.Eng.
