Job summary

Battlefield Equipment Rentals in Concord, Ontario, is seeking a Small Engine Technician to keep our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely and reliably. This full-time role offers hands-on repairs, preventative maintenance, and opportunities to grow with Canada’s leading construction equipment rental company.

You’ll diagnose engines, service tools, support branch operations, and collaborate across teams while following safety and environmental practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on small engines repair experience
• Experience with 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Strong customer service and teamwork
• Ownership of personal tools
• CAT equipment knowledge is a plus
• Licensed Small Engine Technician preferred
• On-call flexibility

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair defective small engines on rental equipment.
• Service and maintain QA rental equipment.
• Repair customer-owned tools and equipment.

Position: Small Engine Technician Location: Concord, ON Type: Full-Time, Permanent Pay: $24.00 - $26.00/hr (based on experience)

As a key member of the Service team, the Small Engines Technician plays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Diagnose and repair defective small engines on rental equipment.
• Diagnose, service, and maintain QA rental equipment.
• Diagnose and repair customer-owned tools and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on both fleet and customer equipment.
• Maintain and service small-engine-related equipment.
• Load and unload customer rental equipment and clearly explain operating instructions as required.
• Maintain the yard and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
• Support branch operations by performing additional duties as assigned.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure timely repairs and service delivery
• Collaborate seamlessly with your colleagues to create a supportive and efficient work environment.
• Follow all workplace safety protocols and environmentally sound practices, making sure everyone stays safe.

What We’re Looking For

• Mechanical Experience: Strong troubleshooting and repair skills with 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Small Engines Technician or similar role with experience working on 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines, construction heaters (propane and natural gas), small electrical tools, forklifts, aerial lifts and Stihl products.
• Customer Service Oriented: Excellent communication skills and a knack for making customers feel valued.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
• Independent Worker: Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Endurance: Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up to 50lbs.
• Safety Focused: A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield’s health and safety policies.
• A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.
• A Licensed Small Engine Technician (Preferred)
• Flexibility to support on-call schedules and adapt to business demands.
• Hydraulic system knowledge
• Ownership of personal tools is required for the role.
