Job summary

MedSleep is hiring Sleep Technologists and offering 240 hours of hands-on paid training plus theoretical training to build a meaningful career in sleep medicine. The role involves applying sensors, operating equipment, and delivering patient care in our clinics across Canada.

Training wage starts at $19/hour and increases to $21/hour after training, typically within two months of hire. Shifts are overnight, three to four per week, with a condensed schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Effective communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a clinical setting.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification is required or must be obtained before overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Apply electrodes and sensors to monitor brain waves, breathing, heart rhythms, and eye movements during sleep.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain and test diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
  • Administer respiratory treatments such as oxygen supplementation.
  • Ensure equipment, instruments and space are clean and maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures and test results.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols.
  • Provide patient education on sleep hygiene and equipment use.
  • Monitor patients overnight and adjust equipment as needed.
  • Ensure quality data for physician review and understand technical findings.
  • Six weeks of training at Prince George, BC clinic.

Position Description:

As a Sleep Technologist, you’ll be responsible for the proper performance of all procedures relating to the accurate, safe operation of all diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnographic services provided by our clinics.

A typical shift includes:

  • Applying electrodes and sensors onto patients to monitor their brain waves, breathing patterns, heart rhythms, and eye movements during sleep;
  • Operate, monitor, maintain and test a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment;
  • Operate and monitor respiratory equipment to administer treatments such as oxygen supplement;
  • Ensure that the equipment, instruments, and space used are thoroughly cleaned and maintained;
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all procedures and test results;
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols;
  • Provide patient education on proper sleep hygiene and use of equipment;
  • Monitor patients throughout the night and make adjustments to equipment as necessary;
  • Ensure quality collections of data for physician review and gain an understanding in how to respond to specific technical findings.
  • This role will require six (6) weeks of training at our Prince George, BC clinic
Position Qualifications:
  • BSc (Sciences) BA in Psychology, Biology, Neuroscience, or an Allied Health care professional is preferred but not required. High School Diploma of equivalent (GED) required.
  • Work fewer workdays, three (3) to four (4) overnight shifts per week, night shifts are ten and a half (10) hours per shift. Overnight shifts include weeknights and weekends; eligible candidates must be available to work these shifts.
    • Shift timings are 8:30PM to 7:00AM
  • Effective communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a clinical setting.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care.
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Check will be required prior to hire date.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification is required as a condition of employment. Candidates who do not currently hold valid certification may still apply but will be required to obtain certification prior to commencing independent overnight shifts.
