Job summary

Vivo for Healthier Generations is seeking an enthusiastic ice skating instructor to lead group and private lessons in the Calgary area. You will tailor lesson plans to different ages and abilities, provide constructive feedback, and ensure a safe, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Proficient ice skating skills with knowledge of skating techniques.
  • Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR-C/AED certifications.
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sectors Search completed within 2 months of hire.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient and encouraging, able to motivate students of all ages.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct group and private ice skating lessons for various age groups and skill levels.
  • Create lesson plans tailored to the needs and abilities of each student.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students improve their skating abilities.
  • Promote a safe and positive learning environment, emphasizing proper techniques and safety precautions.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of each student, adjusting instruction as necessary.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ownership of instruction, lesson set-up, lesson plan implementation, attendance taking, and use of equipment and teaching aids.

Schedule

Flexible availability, with required availability on Wednesday and Thursday preferred. This schedule will start in the Fall.

  • Wednesday - between 4:45 to 7:30 pm
  • Thursday - between 4:00 to 7:30 pm

Reports to: Sport Program Coordinator

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct group and private ice skating lessons for various age groups and skill levels
  • Create lesson plans tailored to the needs and abilities of each student
